When you are trying to think of the perfect gift to buy for the special lady (or ladies) in your life, whether it is your mother, wife, girlfriend, daughter, or sister, it can sometimes be very helpful to find out what other women think of the gifts they have received that have been memorable and special to them over the years. You can get a lot of great ideas by talking with other women. In an effort to help my fellow woman, I have compiled this short list of some of the best gifts I have ever received.

One of the best gifts I can remember getting was a wedding gift from my best friend. Part of what makes this gift special is that it was bag full of personalized gifts with my new name on everything. The gift was thoughtfully wrapped in a canvass tote bag that was embroidered with my new married name. Inside the bag was a personalized glass that I used to enjoy a few glasses of wine at our wedding reception. There was also some new stationary that came in very handy when writing thank you notes and a keychain that had my soon-to-be new initials engraved on it. The gift was so special because it was all made for me personally, and everything was very useful and well thought out.

Another great gift I received was a graduation gift from my mother. She gave me a designer checkbook wallet. It is a high-quality wallet that has held up through 12 full years of wear and tear. I have seriously carried this wallet in my purse for the past 12 years and it still looks almost as good as the day she gave it to me. She spent close to $300 on the wallet, so this is definitely a gift to save for a special occasion, but it will be money well-spent. The quality of the designer brands helps justify the high cost. As I was leaving college and entering the workforce for the first time, having a nice wallet to carry around helped motivate me to always do a great job and earn my own living so I could purchase the matching purse one day when I had saved up enough money from my first job.

The first Christmas my husband and I celebrated after we had our first child, he gave me a simple silver necklace that was shaped like a heart with the silhouette of a mother and a child. On the back of the necklace he had our son’s initials and birth date engraved. Sentimental gifts are always a great idea for women, especially for mothers. This holds true for mothers with new children and for grandmothers as well. If one of the women in your life is about to, or has recently, had their first child, find some way to commemorate the special occasion with a heartfelt gift celebrating the newest member of her family.
