Stylish Pets

You do not have to have a designer dog (a mixed breed of dog that has been “designed” for specific characteristics) in order to have a stylish pet. There is a huge surge of doggie boutiques today. Stores that cater to helping you style your pet are popping up all over in urban areas as well as online. If you are looking to impart some of your personal style on your dog or perhaps give him or her a style of their very own, your options are virtually endless!

Going to a party? Dress your dog up in their very own party collar. Party collars come in a variety of themes and are available in all sizes. Party collars are simple collars that are ornately decorated with colorful mesh fabric that is cut into strips and each strip is usually adorned with a bauble on the end to round out the theme of the collar. A nice autumn themed party collar might have warm gold, green, and copper color fabric with a nice leaf bauble attached to the end. A Halloween party collar might be orange and black fabric with spiders and skulls adorning the end of each piece of fabric. When you get all dressed up for your parties, do not forget to dress up your dog while you are at it. Get a party collar for every occasion and your dog will be partying in high style.

Speaking of Halloween, a stylish pet must have a costume for Halloween. A really stylish pet will also have costumes for all of the other holidays, too! You can dress your Dachshund up as a hot dog with an adorable bun and mustard costume. Or you can be more sophisticated and dress up your pooch as a princess or a ballerina complete with ballet slippers and a pink tutu. You can also get Santa, elf, and reindeer costumes to ring in the Christmas spirit and a nice Cupid ensemble to celebrate Valentines. There is nothing cuter than seeing your dog all dressed up in a special costume.

If you are not into dressing up your dog, but you still want to have a stylish pet, just remember to accessorize! You can get a zebra striped dog bed to help spice up your bedroom and ensure your dog sleeps in style. You can also get a designer collar and leash. Many high-end handbag designers also make dog collars and leashes with your favorite designer’s logo to show off your own personal style while you walk your dog. If you don’t want to go with a fancy designer brand, you can always go with a studly spiked leather collar to show off your dogs manly side or a nice crystal-studded collar for an ultra feminine touch.

If you are new to accessorizing your pet, don’t worry! Just start simple and work up to doggie costumes and fancy party attire. Your dog is just one more outlet for creative expression. Chances are your pooch will thoroughly enjoy the extra attention he or she is sure to receive when they are all dolled up in their stylish new look.

A Nice Place to Visit

If you are considering moving to a different city and / or state, do yourself a favor and investigate Scottsdale, Arizona. Not only is it a beautiful place to live, it has a great economy and satisfaction surveys show that people living in Scottsdale are exceptionally happy. Scottsdale has exceptional weather, luxury shopping, first class restaurants, impressive arts and cultural community, and an abundant tourism industry. Enjoy a better quality of life by making the move to Scottsdale, Arizona!

Scottsdale is located in the Maricopa County of Arizona. It is just east of the capital city, Phoenix. Scottsdale is bordered by the other Arizona cities of Paradise Valley, Carefre, Tempe, and Fountain Hills. Scottsdale is located in the Salt River Valley, which is also known as The Valley of the Sun. The population of Scottsdale is almost 250,000 as of the year 2009. The climate of Scottsdale can be characterized as arid, with the winters being mild and the summers being relatively hot. The weather Scottsdale enjoys makes this city a popular destination for snowbirds, or people who like to travel to warmer climates when the climate they live in gets too cold to bear.

A large part of Scottsdale’s economy is tourism. Scottsdale has been referred to as the Miami Beach of Arizona. This is because there is plenty of upscale shopping, luxury dining, and nightlife to enjoy in this beautiful city. Aside from the shopping, dining, and nightlife, Scottsdale is mainly revered for its resorts and spas. Scottsdale is second only to New York City in its number of triple A five-diamond hotels, most notably The Phoenician, The Canyon Suites, Scottsdale Camelback Inn, Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale at Troon North, and the Fairmont Princess Resort and Spa. One thing that seems to go hand in hand with the spa industry is golfing, and Scottsdale has plenty of that. Scottsdale has several first class golf courses to be enjoyed by the golf enthusiasts.

Scottsdale also boasts a diverse and plentiful arts and cultural community. Scottsdale is a national capitol for a style of art and culture termed Southwestern, but also has its share of modern and contemporary art as well. Downtown Scottsdale has three arts districts for art enthusiasts to enjoy, the Main Street Arts District, the Marshall Way Arts District, and Old Town. There is a weekly artists event in Scottsdale held every Thursday evening, called the Scottsdale Artwalk and a yearly Scottsdale Arts Festival.

Shopping in Scottsdale is plentiful as Scottsdale has evolved into one of the southwestern United States premiere shopping destinations. There is a large upscale shopping center in north Scottsdale called the Keirland Commons and downtown Scottsdale is home to the Scottsdale Fashion Square. The Scottsdale Fashion Square boasts nearly two million square feet of shopping and is routinely ranked as one of the country’s most profitable shopping centers. Whether you are into corporate retail shopping or independent boutiques, Scottsdale shopping has something for everyone.

San Diego’s Historical Past

San Diego is an evolving modern exciting city that hosts millions of visitors each year who visit all the historic landmarks to learn more about this fine city’s early beginnings.  San Diego County is one of the most visited places in the world and most people who live here or visit may be unfamiliar with its rich history and culture.

San Diego’s earliest recorded history began with a Portuguese-born explorer, Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo.  In 1542, Cabrillo sailed in and claimed the bay for the Spanish Empire and named spot San Miguel.  In the early 1600’s, a Spaniard by the name of Sebastián Vizcaíno was sent to map the California coast.   Arriving on his called the San Diego, Vizcaíno surveyed the harbor and what is now Mission Bay and Point Loma.  He named the area for the Catholic Saint Didacus, more commonly known as San Diego and that is where the city gets it’s name..

By 1797, the mission boasted the largest native population in Alta California.  It is the first of the 21 missions and known as the Mother of the Missions. In the last thirty years, it was designated as a Minor Basilica in 1976 by Pope Paul VI. The Mexican-American War was fought in the San Pasqual Valley which is now part of the city of San Diego.. In 1850 the war ended and the Mexican governement ceded California to the United States, it brought a great migration of Americans during th gold rush of 1848.  A few years later, the United States admitted California as the

U.S. Navy established the Navy Coaling Station in Point Loma in 1901.  After World War II, the military played an increasing role in the local economy.  Because the Navy had such an inmpact on the local economy, post-Cold War cutbacks took a heavy toll on defense and aerospace industries. Looking to come out of this slump, other industires emerged like biotechnology and telecommunications.

Living in Franklin

Franklin is a charming suburb of Nashville in Williamson County. Only 20 miles away from downtown Nashville, the city combines its ties to their rich past with an upscale urban development. It’s no surprise that recently the city recently made the top ten lists as the “Best Small Town” by Southern Living.

The City of Franklin was founded by Abram Maury, Jr., a State Senatory and was named after Benjamin Franklin, a close friend of Dr. Hugh Williamson, a member of the Continental Congress for whom Williamson County was named.

Franklin is perhaps best known as the site of the Civil War’s bloodiest battle, the Battle of Franklin. Before the Civil War, the city and Williamson County was perhaps one of the wealthiest counties in Tennessee. However, on November 30, 1864, the Battle of
Franklin took its toll on this community killing and wounding almost 10,000. The war destroyed the economy and it took almost 120 years for the counties economy to reach pre-war status. Today, visitors can learn about Franklin’s part in Civil War history by touring the Carter House, the Lotz House and the Historic Carnton Plantation, which includes the largest privately-owned Confederate cemetery in the nation.

Downtown Franklin is comprised of a 15-block historic district. The district includes an array of 70 trendy boutiques, antique shops and restaurants. With a history that dates back more than 200 years, it offers a dynamic American main street experience with brick-lined sidewalks, manicured landscaping and beautifully restored historic buildings.

Franklin’s family-friendly festivals that take place throughout the year attract more than 200,000 visitors annually. One of the most anticipated festivals each year is the Annual Main Street Festival. The festival offers entertainment in the way of music, booths with crafts and art made by local artists, food vendors and a big traditional carnival for the kids with all their favorite rides.

If you’re considering moving to Franklin, the median home price for a single-family detached homes are around $338,000 and go up from there. Other types of homes available are town homes, condominiums and beautiful estates overlooking the Pacific Ocean.

With Nashville on thirty minutes away, you’ll have access to all the big city has to offer. For country music enthusiast, a trip to the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum and the Grand Ole Opry is sure to be a treat. Enjoy world-class musical performance at the Nashville Performing Arts Center where you could be center-stage to see the Nashville Ballet or Symphony. No trip to Nashville would be complete without stopping by some of the many clubs to enjoy music by local artist and to sample some of the south’s delicious cuisine.

Home Entertainment

At first glance home entertainment and home security may not seem to have much in common. However, consider two facts; home invasion crimes are on the upswing and home electronics are a frequent target for burglars. It only makes sense to protect your family, home and personal property with a home security system.

If you are in the market for a home security system, consider a CCTV Home Security System from dreamstardirect.com. At Dreamstar Direct you will find a wide assortment of CCTV systems to suite any need. If you are interested in installing surveillance specifically to protect your home electronics; you will find indoor and outdoor systems to protect every part of your home and surrounding area.

Criminals are adept at determining which homes have items valuable enough to commit a crime for. Many burglars follow delivery trucks from electronic stores to their destinations to observe what type of electronics are being delivered. Most criminals are smart enough to know that a home with one high end electronic product will most likely have numerous high end items worthy of attention. Home intruders often case perspective crime sites by simply looking in home windows to see what they might steal. If your home has a great home theater system with a high resolution wide screen TV, a Blu-ray disc and a Bose surround sound system, it is a target for thieves.

Most of us only think about our trash when we have to shove the container to the curb once a week. Criminals frequently look at trash receptacles; they are looking for discarded boxes and packaging that infers new items in a home. When asked what attracted them to a certain home as a target for burglary, most captured burglars admit to finding big-screen TV boxes in the trash or observing the TV’s through a window.

If you do not currently enjoy the protection of a home security system, today is a very good day to get one. Don’t just settle for an alarm system. While a step in the right direction, an alarm system is not capable of documenting in the event a crime is perpetrated at your home. An alarm system is designed to alert anyone inside the home that an entryway has been breached; some alarms can even alert to the sound of breaking glass. It is hoped that the scream of the alarm will cause the perpetrator to flee, which we would all agree is a good outcome for the situation. However, an alarm system has no way to document or image the intruder.

What every home needs is a CCTV home security system for optimal protection, preferably one capable of recording input from the security camera/cameras. Closed Circuit Television security is a great way to monitor the activities inside and outside of your home. Today’s CCTV security systems are very convenient and easy to use. PC-based CCTV systems enable you to monitor your home in real time using a PC, PDA, laptop or cell phone.

Watch your kids, the maid, the babysitter and any other workers who may be in your home with a CCTV security system. With a CCTV home security system working for you, it is far more likely that you will come home to find your home intact and your family safe.

Take Time to Unwind

More or less, we all have the same routine. Every day we get up at 7:00 am or 8:00, take a shower, get dressed up, have our breakfasts and start working. We keep on working the whole day long and then in the evening we return back to our homes. This same routine goes on and we never get a chance to entertain ourselves during weekdays due to our tight schedules. This is because we cannot spare time to visit some fun places or go to a theater for that matter. Usually we are already too tired. Don’t you think you need a better solution to this problem? If yes, read on.

Finding entertainment options to refresh yourself and release tension helps you feel happier and happiness is very important for our emotional and psychological health. There are thousands of entertainment options. You have to select the one according to your nature and taste. Sometimes we prefer certain entertainment options over others, like watching a TV show over reading a book, or playing a sport over listening to business news. As entertainment has a great impact on our feelings, it is very important to ensure that whatever option you select it should be refreshing rather than depressing.

One of the important factors while selecting a source of entertainment is of course the cost. A very good source of entertainment is television. Unfortunately, almost all of us pay heavy bills to our cable operators to get us different channels and thus this expensive nature of entertainment is indeed disappointing. But don’t worry because with the advent of technology, things are getting better and easier; now you can see free channels just with the installation of an FTA receiver and a dish. FTA means Free to Air and it allows you to see as many channels as your receiver can catch without charging a single penny. All you need is to purchase the right equipment and enjoy your favorite program in your favorite language.

There are many service providers with incredible packages to get you the right entertainment at a very low cost. They also provide you with valuable guidelines making things even easier and if you take their assistance in the installation process, a portion of your cost will be further reduced. Also, if you have the basic installation knowledge you can go about it yourself. But if you’re a first-time installer it is recommended that you go for the installation kit containing all installation tools and how-to videos to help you do it right.
These providers also supply many other electronic accessories like motors, multi-switches, coaxial cables, signal finders, tripods, connectors, remotes, transmitters and many more items. These accessories play a very important role in enhancing your entertainment experience. You feel new energy and power. It’s a sort of get-up-and-go feeling! So boost up your energy, find the best supplier of these entertainment products on the internet and go for the rejuvenating experience! After all, who doesn’t want to get some time off from the hectic daily routine?

We’ll work one on one with you throughout the entire process, taking your concerns and needs seriously. What’s more, though, is that we’ll pay careful attention to the plans we design together, and that can help the final product resemble the home of your dreams.

It’s important to us that your home turns out exactly the way you like. Whether we are building a new home, remodeling an existing home, or adding on a room, we want to do things your way. Keeping your personal desires in mind, we can create the perfect place for you and your family.

Texas State

Texas Texas is the second largest state in the United States in both size and population. It gained its independence from Mexico in 1836 and achieved formal statehood in 1848, becoming the 28th state of the young nation. Much of the battles in Texas history derive from its efforts to achieve independence, first from the Spaniards, and then from Mexico, and finally as an economic battleground between the North and the South in the American Civil War.

The first important battles in Texas came from her attempts to achieve independence from Spain. From 1716 till 1821, Texas was a territory under the crown of Spain. The Mexican quest for independence began with Father Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla in 1810 after Louisiana was sold to the United States by France in 1803, when the boundary between Texas and Louisiana was contested by both Spain and the United States. Anglo Americans began to push against the established boundaries, and the poor Tejano population grew restless under Spanish rule. Periodic fights broke out between the Spanish loyalists and the Mexicans and Anglo supporters. In 1813, the Mexicans led an insurrection against Spanish troops in San Antonio at the Battle of Medina. This rebellion was unsuccessful and led to the execution of 300 Mexican men. Continued strife and fighting finally led to Mexico’s independence in 1821 during the Mexican War of Independence.

The next set of battles in Texas arose from the desire of Anglo settlers seeking expansion and colonization, culminating in the quest for independence from Mexico and statehood. Stephen F. Austin sought and received permission from the Mexican government to establish the first Anglo settlement in Southeastern Texas. Three hundred families settled in the Brazos River region beginning in 1823. The new colonists were called Texans, and dissatisfaction with the policies imposed by the Mexican created a contentious relationship between the Texans and the Mexican government. During the Battle of Velasco on June 26, 1832, Mexican troops under the leadership of Domingo de Ugartechea tried to stop Texans from delivering a cannon that Mexicans feared would be used against them. The first blood was spilled by the two sides here, and the Texans prevailed.

The first battle of the Texas Revolution occurred in the town of Gonzales on October 2, 1835. This battle was the first example of resistance to the Mexican dictatorship. The Mexican government deployed a cavalry detachment to retrieve a cannon in Gonzales. The Texans fought and prevailed, prompting the creation of a flag with the slogan "Come and Take It." The next clash between the two sides in the quest for freedom occurred at the Battle of Concepcion on October 28, 1835 when James Bowie, James Fannen, and 90 Texans stormed the fortified Mission Nuestra Senora de la Concepcion de Acuna in San Antonio and defeated 450 Mexican troops. This battle sent a message to President Santa Anna that serious conflict was now at hand in Texas.

The Battle of Concepcion was followed by the famous Battle for Texas.Battle of the Alamo in February and March of 1836. Here, Mexican troops lay siege to the Alamo mission. A small group of Texans attempted to hold their positions inside the mission against the Mexican army, but the 13 day siege resulted in the death of all 180 Texans. Among the dead were the leader of the Battle of Concepcion, James Bowie, Davy Crocket, William Travis, and women and Mexicans loyal to the Texan cause.

More to come in the brilliant history of Texas.

Take Care of Your Shoes

If you take care of your shoes, your shoes will take care of you. Everybody has at least one pair of shoes. Most of us have several, which we use in different situations. Leather shoes, tennis shoes, work boots, and probably a pair of quality sandals can be found in most people’s closets. The nature of shoes ensure that they will get beat up. You wear them on your feet, walk through who-knows-what, sweat in them, and generally pay little attention to what happens to them. Unless you want to continuously shop for new pairs of shoes to replace the ones you destroy, a little care and maintenance should be applied to get the most out of the shoes you own.

The simple act of wearing your shoes puts a lot of strain on them. In the morning, when you put on socks and then shoes, your feet warm up above the temperature they would naturally be at. This causes them to sweat. Eventually, the moisture soaks through the sock and gets into the interior of the shoe. If left alone, the moisture will cause the inside of the shoe to rot, and will make it smell bad. This will cause the shoe to eventually fall apart from the inside. A cedar shoe tree placed in your shoe at the end of each day will soak up the moisture left in the shoe. The natural deodorizing properties of the wood will keep any foul smells from taking hold. The shoe tree will also help the shoe keep its shape, keeping it from collapsing after your foot is taken out.

Putting your foot in a shoe puts a lot of strain on the shoe. Your foot pushes across the heel collar, forcing it to bend inward. Eventually, this will cause it to crease and collapse. A shoe horn will let your foot slip easily into the shoe, protecting the heel collar from strain. This will make your shoes last much longer, ensuring that you do not have to shop for a new pair before it is absolutely necessary.

Keeping your shoes clean will make them last longer. Leather, suede, and tennis shoes all have products available for regular cleaning. Shoes should be cleaned periodically, with heavier use shoes being cleaned more often than lighter use shoes. If your shoes become soiled, by walking through something or being splashed, they should be cleaned as soon as possible. The faster the mess is cleaned up, the less damage the mess will cause. Regular cleaning will keep the shoe’s color from fading, will keep the materials from deteriorating, and will help the shoe to last longer. Once the shoe is clean, a protective product should be used to keep it clean. Sealants and protectors are available for all types of shoes that will protect them from moisture and dirt, allowing the shoe easier cleaning the next time around. Keeping moisture from penetrating the material will extend the life of the shoe more than anything else.

Thermal Paper, the Modern Invisible Ink

Thermal Paper, the Modern Invisible Ink

As kids we were fascinated by the idea of invisible ink. Writing invisibly with lemon juice and then using the heat of a light bulb to darken the invisible ink and make it readable was a favorite trick. In a sense, what we were doing is creating a primitive version of modern thermal paper.

Thermal paper is the term used for a special paper that has ink already on it, but locked invisibly within a chemical matrix. The matrix breaks down under the application of heat, releasing the ink. Although modern thermal paper has this ink coating over its entire surface, the selective application of heat makes the ink visible only where required to make the desired printing appear.

Thermal paper is most often sold in small roles that fit neatly into the many machines that use them. Things like cash registers, ATMs, and credit card authorization machines all use thermal paper rolls. The tiny rolls usually contain hundreds of feet of paper and the machines use only a few inches at a time as needed to print the receipt or transaction record required, so each roll can last a long time before needing to be replaced.

Like out childhood lemon juice ink, even modern thermal papers only contain a single color of ink and cannot be used for applications requiring multiple colors. That still makes thermal printing very useful for commercial applications where the only thing that needs to be printed is text for things like an automated gas pump receipt.

Another reason why thermal paper is popular for these high volume commercial applications is that thermal printers do not require ink cartridges or printer ribbons. If you have an ink based printer at home, then you know how often ink cartridges and ribbons need to be replaced. In commercial applications, every time the printer requires refilling means down time and can interfere with sales. As those of us with home computer printers also know, replacing ink cartridges can be quite expensive. Thermal printers tend to have a lower operating cost than their ink based counterparts.

Thermal printers also tend to have a simpler design and construction that ink based printers. This makes them cheaper to buy initially and increases their reliability in the long run as well. The fact that they have fewer moving parts than ink based printers means that there are fewer possible points of failure and fewer parts that can wear out over time.

While today’s modern thermal papers are a far cry from the invisible inks we crafted as kids, but they do share enough similarities to bring back some fond childhood memories.

Essential Displays

One thing that can really determine your success at a trade show is the type of trade show display that you have. In order to make the most of the money that you are spending to be at the trade show, you will want to have displays that attract the most visitors and people as possible. Further you will want to make sure that the display makes visitors interested in finding out more information about your products or services.

The message of your display should be very clear. You will want to make sure that your display is tidy and neat and that it is not overwhelming to those who are trying to view it. You might find it helpful to use a display board in order to be able to display some of your products. The most interesting information should be eye level as this is the area in which people first view things and what could draw them in. You will want to make sure that things are organized and that you avoid clutter when making your display boards because if there is too much information, it will be overwhelming and they will move on to a simpler display. Another thing to consider is making sure that all prices are clearly visible.

Making your displays look as though your products are in high demand is also important. You might want to put a SOLD sign on specific items in order to generate more interest and more of a desire to have specific products. By doing this you will create a sense of urgency in those who are looking at your products and give them a reason to consider buying them now rather than waiting until later.

One other option for you is to check into interactive trade shows that are available. Some of the ways that you can attract crowds to the trade show and your business is through the use of drawings, computer games, surveys or demonstrations so that the individual gets to be involved with your display. Making sure to capture interest is the main goal and that does not always mean having the most elaborate display.

Having giveaway items or promotions is another great way to increase the traffic to your display. These also help to remind visitors of your business when they have left the show. One thing with these items is to choose something that people will often use or is easily seen in their homes. These items might be a magnet, pen, and/or key rings, which are cheap and available in a number of different designs. Another thing is that you will want to make sure that visitors have to walk into or through your display to get their promotional item as this will cause them to have to see more about your product rather than just walking by and grabbing a freebie.

Keeping your area professional and being organized is a final way that you can really increase business and make sure that others are paying attention to your trade show display rather than the display of your competition.

Dynamic Images in Web Design

Of all the elements prominent on modern websites, images comprise some of the most appealing and important; while text, multimedia, and other site components may hold powerful messages or perform useful tasks for visitors, images are largely responsible for creating impressions that are both immediate and long-term. Naturally, many web designers are drawn to the field for its ample opportunities for creative use of images, and there are many web design professionals from Austin to Atlanta and beyond who are able to craft attractive and effective images for use online. Simple static images, or those that do not change at any point, are by far the most common in modern use, but there is also a strong market for dynamic images, or those that change at intervals either on their own or due to specific site visitor interactions. These dynamic images, when implemented in a reasonable manner, can make the user experience much more enjoyable, and designers frequently develop new and more elegant methods of incorporating these fun site elements.

Many dynamic images currently displayed on the web change at set intervals or according to a script upon which the visitor has no influence. While it is possible to create images of this type that add to the value and visual appeal of a website, some users may find the uncontrollable changes distracting, especially on sites that feature significant portions of text. Potentially creating the impression that the image is an advertisement, web designers and site owners are likely to benefit most by considering, in-depth, the advantages and disadvantages of independent dynamic image use.

Images which change in response to user actions or input, such as rollover images, can often provide a better user experience without signaling advertisements or other undesirable page elements. While these images may be more complex by their nature, and can require a larger amount of server space and subsequent loading time to render, their intelligent use on a site can help it become better-looking and more impressive, leaving visitors feeling well-served or even entertained. Dynamic images that change based on visitor interactions can be scripted to work with any number of events, such as a click, a mouse-over, selections from multiple choice fields, and many other movements. Often taking visitors by surprise and suggesting the professionalism with which the site was created, these images have the ability to significantly improve the atmosphere of a site, no matter its niche, content, or audience.

Working with images is a natural and considerable part of a web designer’s regular job, and the possession and refinement of related skills can speak volumes about a designer’s potential to create great and memorable sites. Whether fashioning dynamic images that change independently or on cue from site visitors, designers can take advantage of these flexible page elements to create stunning looks across a wide variety of individual site goals and content types.
